The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) is one of the oldest National Laboratories under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). It commenced as the Central Laboratories for Scientific & Industrial Research (CLSIR) via the then princely State of Hyderabad in 1944. CSIR-IICT during its seventy year journey has made its mark as a dynamic, revolutionary and end result oriented R&D organization. Dr. S Hussain Zaheer changed into appointed as Director of CLSIR on November 28, 1948. On taking up the price, Dr. Zaheer reoriented the Institute's research consciousness on Oils & Fats; Coal & Fuels; Heavy Chemicals and Fertilizers; Ceramics; Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals and Drugs; Biochemistry; Physical Chemistry; Chemical Engineering and Operations Research. CSIR-IICT at some stage in its seventy 12 months adventure has made its mark as a dynamic, progressive and result oriented R&D organization. Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, established in 1944, is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. With its understanding in chemistry and chemical generation, it gives answers to challenges faced through Industry, Government Departments and Entrepreneurs via basic and implemented studies, and procedure improvement. It is across the world identified for its contributions to chemistry studies and is ideal vicinity for taking ideas to commercialization through country of the artwork studies and development.
Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar, born in 1964, finished all his primary and higher schooling in Hyderabad and Joined CSIR, IICT for a Ph. D Programme. After completing his Ph. D (1991) with the then director Dr. A. V. Rama Rao, he moved to USA for a publish doctoral role with Prof. J. R. Falck (1991-94). He joined CSIR-IICT as Scientist C in 1994 and grew upto the extent of director in 2015. He is a fellow of all of the 3 Indian Science academies, i.e., National Academy of Sciences, Indian Academy of Sciences and Indian National Science academy. He has evolved technology for the synthesis of latest anti-tuberculosis drug, bedaquiline; anti-tumor and abortive drug, misoprostol; anti-platelet molecule, beraprost; antidepressive compound, sertralin and drug for treatment of schizophrenia, asenapine. He has extra than 250 publications with 5000 citations. 50 college students have been already provided Ph. D. Diploma under his able guidance and 20 submit doctoral associates have labored in his group.
