1892 marks the beginning of the Grenoble INP with it first course in Idustrial electricity. With passing years the institute saw achievements with the expansion of the university. For more than a century, Grenoble INP has pursued its initial vocation: to train engineers. In this first mission, others rapidly joined together: scientific and technological research, doctoral training, continuing education, and support for industrial development. In 2002, he became a co-founder member, with the CEA, of the Minatec innovation pole inaugurated in June 2006. A research department is set up on January 1, 2008. Its mission is to animate scientific policy and manage all the laboratories attached to the institution (until then the laboratories were attached to the schools). In 2008 , six engineering schools were opened . The INP Grenoble becomes the Grenoble INP group. The engineering schools are:Ense3, Ensimag,Esisar,Pagora, Phelma and Industrial engineering. About 80% of the graduates from Grenoble INP have permanent employement contract , 98% have a permanent job, 51% are hired at the end of their studies project. In open training , about 180students per year undergo internship programs or academic stay abroad. 18% are foreign students from 30 nationalities. The school allows each student to build and adapt his / her curriculum according to his / her personal project. The labs were assessed by HCERES in 2015, which highlights the association of Grenoble INP in the nature of Grenoble research. It has a rich associative life, with more than 15 student associations , 500 students in atleast one of the associations.It has more than 217 patents and software families. About150 industrial research contracts per year and 36 laboratories including 10 international. The exploration of Grenoble INP is organized around national and global labs co-guided with our scholarly accomplices and research associations (CNRS, INRIA, IRD, CEA) inside the Community Grenoble-Alpes University. The solid coordinated efforts between the logical groups and the best in class innovative methods for supporting exploration (mechanical stages )empower it to achieve a level of magnificence perceived by the universal group.
