Founded in 1932, our province-owned and comprehensive university has grown to become an international hub of academic excellence and multi-cultural cooperation and relationships. GXNU currently offers a variety of programs and degrees for students of all levels and nationalities, and our academic programs cover at least twelve different branches of learning. In fact, GXNU was one of the earliest higher institutions to be approved by the State to accept international students and begin to foster multi-cultural communication and relationships with many different countries.
University specifically offers short-term training in various programs, undergraduate degrees, as well as Masters degree and Doctoral degree courses in Chinese language learning. GXNU is also proud to offer 35 academic disciplines, covering 12 categories including: philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and arts. Furthermore, the university is authorized to set up several additional degrees and positions which include: 3 post-doctoral research mobile stations; to grant Doctoral degrees in 2 first-level disciplines and 12 second-level disciplines; confer Masters degrees in 22 first-level disciplines, 152 second-level disciplines, and 15 specialties; and full-time undergraduate degrees in 72 specialties. All of the programs and colleges are also staffed by approximately 2,230 qualified individuals who are happy to be a part of the team.
Guangxi Normal University also has a large and diverse student population to consider. To date, the university has received more than 15,000 short-term and long-term international students from more than 60 countries and regions. Just as noteworthy, the general population in the various colleges currently includes: 21,949 undergraduate students, 5,716 graduate students, 122 Ph.D. candidates, over 1,800 international students under various programs, and more than 13,000 correspondence and visiting students.
Guangxi Normal University is known for having 3 campuses: Wangcheng Campus, Yucai Campus, and Yanshan Campus - covering a total area of 300 hectares. Of them, Wangcheng Campus was the former site of the Jingjiang Princes Mansion in the Ming Dynasty around 700 years ago. While it is not fully utilized as an academic campus anymore, it is a stunning location to visit where one can see a part of the rich, cultural heritage that continues to exist in Guilin today. It is also worth pointing out that Wangcheng Campus is considered to be one of the most beautiful campuses in China and is the only school campus in the country cited as a 5-A tourist spot.
GXNU has worked together to set up 3 Confucius Institutes with the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, the Malang National University in Indonesia, and the Hanoi University in Vietnam. It has attached great importance to the ASEAN studies and has set up the "ASEAN Education Research Center", "Vietnam Research Center", Indonesian Culture Center", and "Thai Culture Center".
