Hefei Institutes of Physical Science

The Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is a large-scaled integrated research center in Hefei, China. 10 research units CASHIPS is also home to 21 key laboratories and research centers that belong to either CAS or are at the national or provincial level such as the Magnetic Confinement Fusion Laboratory; the National Engineering Research Center for Environmental Optical Instrumentation; the National “863” Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Optics; and the CAS Key Laboratory of Material Physics. For supporting scientific research and technology development, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science also have administrative, technical, and logistical units consist of a computer center and a logistical service center. There are 2,100 employees in Hefei Institutes of Physical Science in which more than 1,600 are scientific researchers and technicians. Along with this Hefei Institutes of Physical Science have more than 1,200 students who are pursuing masters or doctorate degrees. Research units of Hefei institutes of Physical Sciences are Institute of Plasma Physics, Institute of Solid State Physics, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Hefei Institute of Intelligent Machines, High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Anhui Academy of Recycling Economical and Technical Engineering, Institute of Technical Biology and Agricultural Engineering, Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Center of Medical Physics and Technology, Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology. From 1981 to present, Hefei institutes of Physical Sciences has educated more than 2600 graduate students, including 980 Doctors and 1680 Masters. Currently there are 280 super-visors and 1197 graduate students in training, including 415 candidates for doctors degree, 782 for masters degree. The research at Hefei institutes of Physical Sciences mainly focuses on plasma physics and magnetic confinement fusion, the science and technology of magnetic fields, atmospheric optics, nanoscience and materials physics, environmental optics and technology, bionic sensing and control, optical remote sensing, atmospheric and remote sensing, laser technology and materials, nuclear safety technology, modern agricultural information and technology, new-style solar cells, environmental optics and monitoring technology, superconducting magnets and power saving technology and medical physics and technology. In recent years, Hefei institutes of Physical Sciences has carried out many remarkable research programs for the National Basic Research Program (“973” Program), the National High-Tech R&D Program (“863” Program), the Natural Science Foundation of China, CAS and Anhui Province and made major contributions to China’s scientific development. The Institute of Plasma Physics publishes the journal of Plasma Science and Technology (PST) hosted by IOP publishing. PST covers novel experimental and theoretical studies in all fields related to plasma physics. Other journals published by CASHIP include: Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence; Chinese Journal of Quantum Electronics; Journal of Atmospheric and Environmental Optics; and the International Journal of Information Acquisition. CASHIPS’ international cooperation and exchange activities focus on shared use of its large-scale science facilities, including the EAST system, steady-state magnetic field facilities, and the comprehensive atmospheric observation system. These cooperative activities have played a major role in many major international projects like ITER, which is a large experiment intended to prove the viability of fusion as an energy source.

The following is the list of proceedings by scholars from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science that are published in OMICS International journals and conferences.
