Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine comprises of two major components The East-West Research and Training Center and the Integrative Medical center. The East-West Research and Training Center is set up to promote and develop the research and education programs and the Integrative medical Center is set up for the outpatient services.
Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine is in association with the school of Chinese Medicine, Institute of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong institute of Biotechnology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and other local and overseas institutions. In association with the above mentioned institutions, Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine promotes research projects on Integrative medicine and training new medical professionals. It also provides quality services to the society in the field of Integrative medicine. Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine strives to advance the research, clinical and educational development of integrative medicine. To promote the significance of integrative medicine worldwide it associates with the overseas universities like University of Maryland, University of Southampton, university of Toronto, University of Sydney, etc.
As Integrative Medicine acts as a bridge between the other areas of medical practices, and involves different research projects from different disciplines of Medicine, Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine comprises of researchers from different areas inorder to improve their expertise. With collaboration between various disciplines of medicine, they can gain advancements and breakthroughs in research and clinical care. Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine is led by Prof. Justin Wu, director, who oversees the operations of the institute. The central clinical research team maintains the R&D networking with other institutions and units. The institute also strives to maximize individual strength of Western and Chinese Medicine in the development of Integrative medicine. It acts as a model for Integrative Medicine which can apply at Local and International level.
