Indira Gandhi National Tribal University

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University was established through an Act of the Parliament of India namely Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007. It is located in Amarkantak, Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh. It is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grant Commission.
The university caters to the tribal’s long cherished dream of higher education. It is one of the central universities in Madhya Pradesh. This university is functioning with 28 departments and 6 proposed departments. The faculty in this university published the books and articles. The projects are funded with UGC, DST, ICSSR as a funding agencies. As the jurisdiction of the university extends to the whole country, it has a plan to open centres in tribal dominated states for which proposals are under way according to the Act of the University. Acting accordingly, the opened the first regional campus of University at Manipur on 9 September 2009 (09/09/2009) by the Vice-Chancellor Prof.C.D.Singh. The University is going to impart Post Graduate courses Political Science and Human Right, Sociology and Social Anthropology, Social Work, Tribal Studies and Physical Education at its Manipur Regional Campus. The university is also going to start post graduate courses in Computer science in its regional campus from 2017.
