About University: ISPA - University Institute of Psychological, Social and Life Sciences ISPA was founded by the congregation of Catholic religious orders and began its activity in 1962 with the designation of the Institute of Psycho-pedagogical Sciences. It came to adopt the name of Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada (ISPA) in 1964 and since then they have come to affirm themselves as an unavoidable reference in the history of higher education in Portugal. In 1977, the responsibility for establishing ISPA was established by a cooperative open to teachers and non-teachers who collaborate with it and other personalities of recognized social, scientific and cultural relevance. ISPA was a pioneer in the teaching and research of the psychological sciences and behavior in it functioning the first course of psychology and, already in the 80s, in teaching and research in animal behavior. Still in the eighties it would occupy its present facilities, located in Jardim do Tabaco - Alfama street, in the heart of the historic city of Lisbon. It is also in this period that the School of Postgraduate Studies is created and the first masters courses in Portugal in the fields of Ethology, Psychoanalytic Psychology, Psychosomatic or Environmental Psychology are started at ISPA. The qualification and diversification of the training and postgraduate offer would continue to be reinforced throughout the 1980s and 1990s through the development of a network of protocols of association with European and Brazilian universities of reference and that contributed to the exchange of students, teachers And researchers and decisive for the development and projection of the behavioral sciences in Portugal.
