Origins of Jikei University School of Medicine, has started in the year 1881, initiated by Sei-I-Kwai Koshujo, then known as Sei-I-Kwai Medical Training School. Takkaki was a genius in the field of medicine studied at St. Thomass Hospital Medical School in London, returned back and established this medical school.
Later it was changed as Gakko Hojin Jikei Daigaku Tokyo Jikeikai Ika Daigaku, which is now called as Jikei University School of Medicine. It has been changed at the end of Second World War period in the year 1951.
Jikei University School of Medicine has been well diversified university with different sectors in an organized manner, as it contains the faculty of medicine, the graduate school for medical research, the three training schools for nurses, and the four attached hospitals. Medical school has nearly 2000 employees, providing various courses to nearly 2500 students. There are several subjects available in this university, such as Anaesthetics, cardiac surgery, pathology, dermatology, Nephrology etc.
