Veteran General Hospital Kaohsiung (VGHKS) was established in October 1990. The university Provided Employment to more than 2,000 people, VGHKS has gained public praise and recognition over the past two decades as the only public medical center in southern Taiwan. The growth of this university has given rise to new challenges, as the hospitalâs IT team must now manage a huge number of processes related to patient treatment and administrative tasks. Facing increasing pressure to deliver efficient, error-free IT performance, and the team realized the old scheduling job system was gradually growing obsolete. It sought out a new automated solution that would lessen risk, eliminate delays between jobs, and integrate seamlessly with the hospitalâs existing IT infrastructure. Shou Cheng Xiong is the leader of Information Department at VGHKS. As the only medical center in southern Taiwan, VGHKS handles thousands of scheduled jobs every day, many of which depend on huge amounts of data connected by complex relationships. These jobs often need to access statistics on the hospital, patients, and daily revenue from all departments, changes in surgery priorities and doctor duty shifts, or even specific details on a particular disease. The immensity of data and complexity of workflow processes place great demands on the VGHKSâs IT system, so efficiency in process scheduling and execution is critical to meeting service level agreements.
