Magadh University was established on 1st March, 1962. It is situated in Bodh Gaya, Bihar India. It is the largest university of Bihar situated in a lush green campus of 460 acres of land enjoying the spiritual breeze of the Bodhi Tree which enlightened Lord Buddha. Its foundation was laid by Dr. Sarvapali Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. The university is now governed by Bihar State University Act 1976. The university facilitates higher learning and research in the Faculties of Humanities, Science, Commerce, Management and Vocational in 29 Subjects. It comprises of 44 constituent and 105 affiliated colleges. The quality of teaching, discipline and secular atmosphere attract foreign students every year which has offered a global halo to the University. It also offers distance learning education system for Diploma and Degree courses. The college of Hotel, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Academy of Foreign Languages & Cultural Cooperation, Institute of Physiotherapy, Institute of Reconstruction & Development Management and Department of Education are the job-oriented courses which grips the attention of learners. Around 150 teachers work in the university departments and more than 2000 teachers are posted in constituent colleges.
