Started in 1942 by Jay C. Hormel, The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota has a seven-decade history of making significant scientific discoveries aimed at improving the health of the world. For the past 20 years, The Hormel Institute has targeted its cutting-edge research on better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer. Our group of highly successful medical scientists are focused on determining cancer’s basic molecular mechanisms to develop new anti-cancer agents. They share their discoveries globally by being published in leading scientific journals. The Hormel Institute tripled in size in 2008 and is now is on the verge of a second transformative expansion, opening its newest additions in early 2016 that will double the size of its research facilities and overall employment.
