Tunghai University is established in 1955, which is located at Xitun, Taichung, Taiwan which is an urbanized area. This was founded by missionaries in 1955. This is the first private university and the second oldest university in Taiwan. The university logo consists of cross symbol to refer the statement in finding the documents that is “Found in the Love of Jesus” and there are three linked circles these are believed as Holy Trinity. The main motto of the university is to show "Truth, Faith and Deeds". The name Tunghai is the Romanization of Chinese characters and the meaning is “the east coast of the Taiwan Strait”.
