It had formerly existed as two academies: the Szczecin University of Technology and the University of Agriculture in Szczecin. As a result of merging two universities, the West Pomeranian University of Technology holds 10 faculties, 35 fields of study, over 15 000 students on full-time and non-stationary studies.
