Zhejiang University of Technology is located in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The history of Zhejiang University of Technology can be traced back to 1910, its independence (establishment) as a college was in 1953 as the school claims officially. It became a comprehensive technical university in 1993. ZJUT employs a high-level faculty and staffs of 2,800, with 800 professors and associate professors, and 4 are members in Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering. over 250 achievements have won national, provincial or ministry awards for scientific innovation and research, among which 11 have won National Awards for Scientific and Technology Progress. Meanwhile, about 200 inventions have been granted patents. And by the year 2005, the science research funds have reached about 243,000,000 Yuan. It has 22 colleges and 2 departments, including 66 undergraduate programs, master’s degree programs and 25 doctor’s degree programs. The value of ZJUT’s fixed assets totals about RMB2.798 billion. The library has an area of more than 60,000 square meters, containing over 7,210,000 books, 17,000 of which are Chinese and foreign periodicals. It has 10 National (Specialized) Key Labs, 2 National Engineering Labs, and many Ministry of Education Key Labs, and etc. and Varoius research centers are located in the campus, including 6 national engineering (technology) research centers, 3 national key research centers of humanities and social sciences, 13 ZJU Academy of Independent Studies.
