The University of Notre Dame du Lac is a Catholic examination college placed close South Bend, Indiana, in the United States. In French, Notre Dame du Lac signifies "Our Lady of the Lake" and alludes to the universitys patron saint, the Virgin Mary. The school was established by Father Edward Sorin, CSC, who was also its first president. Today, a lot of people Holy Cross priests work for the college, including as its leader. It was secured as an all-male establishment on November 26, 1842. The college initially enlisted ladies students in 1972. Starting 2013 around 48 percent of the students were female. Notre Dames Catholic character is reflected in its commitment to the Catholic faith, various services subsidized by the school, and the structural planning around campus.
