As per available reports about 100 journals, 162 Conferences, 30 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to financial economics and about 366282 articles are being published on the current trends in financial economics. In terms of research annually, USA, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to financial economics are being carried out. As reported in “The Present and Future of Financial Economics” article, financial economics is the branch of economics characterized by a "concentration on monetary activities", in which "money of one type or another is likely to appear on both sides of a trade; empirical and theoretical divergences are not uncommon in financial economics. In the aftermath of the Great recession, economists are challenged to rebuild the financial market both in practice as well as in theory. Governments, central banks and securities & exchange commissions around the world put in practice new laws and regulations. The debate about the future of financial economics and the consequences of this new environment, however, persists in the academia.
