University of Budapest is one of the most esteemed academia in Budapest, Hungary. The university was established in the year 1635 by Péter Pázmány. Later during 18th century the university was moved to Buda, and was called University of Buda. in 1782, the university was the first in Europe to award Engineering degree with the introduction of Institutum Geometricum. The institute was then got merged with Joseph College of Technology and was called Royal Joseph University till 1862, and had the rights to issue diplomas in engineering at university level. in 1949 it was officially called Technical University of Budapest consisting of 5 faculties i.e. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Later in the year 1998 Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences were established. 2000 the official name of this institute was changed to Budapest University of Technology and Economics. With more than 110 departments and 8 schools the university is now ranked as one of the best universities around the world. The university has approx 1100 lectures, 400 researchers and many other degree holders.
