University of California, Santa Barbara is a public research university. It joined under the University of California in 1944 and is the third oldest education campus. It includes five colleges offering 87 undergraduate degrees and 55 graduate degrees. More than 200 majors, degrees, and qualifications are offered through UCSB's five schools and the Graduate Division. The College of Letters and Science alone offers 80 majors. The College of Creative Studies offers gifted students an options approach for seeking after cutting edge, autonomous work in expressions of the human experience, mathematics, or the sciences. The College of Engineering offers degree programs in seven disciplines. The university is divided into two schools named The Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.
