Xiamen University

Xiamen University was established by Tan Kah Kee in 1921. He is a famous patriotic leader. Professor Zhu Chongshi is the President and Professor Zhu Zhiwen is the Chairman of the University. Xiamen University motto is Pursue Excellence; Strive for Perfection, as a result of this motto the university has achieved good reputation. Since its establishment, Xiamen University has produced more than 200,000 undergraduates and graduates for the country. The University at present has 38,000 full-time students on campus, including 20,575 undergraduates, 15,590 master students, 2,567 doctoral students, and over 2500 international students. Xiamen University got a straight-A score in the undergraduate level Teaching Appraisal organized by the Ministry of Education in 2005. In internationally high-level academic journals such as Science, Nature, the Lancet, etc, 16 research reports were published. Xiamen University has tie-ups with over 170 Universities at home and across the world. Xiamen University has signed the agreement on Global U7 Consortium in 2004 with seven other universities around the world. Because of its geographical location and advantageous human resources, it has become the key university actively engaged in cross-straits educational, scientific and cultural exchanges.
