Description of the country:

Saudi Arabia is a desert country encompassing most of the Arabian Peninsula, with Red Sea and Persian (Arabian) Gulf coastlines. It is officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Geography of the country :

Saudi Arabia with a land area of approximately 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi) and it is geographically the 5th -largest state in Asia and second-largest state in the Arab world. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. Saudi Arabia's geography is dominated by the Arabian Desert and associated semi-desert and shrubland. There are virtually no rivers or lakes in the country, but wadis are numerous.

Status of economy, research and development:

Saudi Arabia's most economy is petroleum-based with strong government supremacy to control major economic activities and mostly 75% of budget revenues and 90% of export earnings come from the oil industry. It is strongly dependent on foreign workers with about 80% of those employed in the private sector.

Saudi Arabia has monarchical form of government in which the monarch has absolute power among his or her people; there are no political parties or national elections, Ruled by a monarchy headed by a king, Saudi Arabia has never truly had a constitution but is governed by sharia, meaning Islamic law. Numerous Social and political science journals are published from Saudi Arabia in order to encourage a transnational and global study of Saudi Arabia Politics. Several leading Institution in the country including King Saud University, National Research University Higher School of Economics, and others are spearheading the Social and political science research.
