Russia is a sovereign state in north Eurasia and it shares the land borders of Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea from northwest to southeast. The country officially called as Russian Federation. Russia is the world's largest country with a population of 144 million.
Russia’s territory is 17,098,242 km², of which 17,021,900 km² is land and 79,400 km² water and it contains forty UNESCO biosphere reserves. The country is having 85 administrative territorial divisions in those twenty two republics, nine krais, fourty six oblasts; one deemed oblast, four autonomous okrugs, and three cities with federal status, namely the cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Sevastopol. It contains some natural resources such as Natural gas, Manganese, Nickel, Tungsten, Cobalt, Molybdenum and another iron alloying elements occur in adequate quantities.
The country has a high-income mixed economy and also state ownership in strategic areas of economy. The World Bank estimates the Russia’s natural resources total value of 75 trillion US dollars and Russia was the sixth largest economy in the world by PPP and tenth largest at market exchange rates.
Russia is having 27 Nobel Laureates in the fields of Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Peace, Literature and Physiology and Medicine. In Russia, mainly aquaculture research is going on the following research institutes. They are Akvaplan-niva research centre, National Aquaculture Sector- Russian Federation and Russian Federal research Institute of Fishery and Oceanography.
