Biography

 Mario Varcamonti was from November 1, 1999 Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Structural and Functional Biology, Faculty of Science MMFFNN University of Naples Federico II. From November 1, 2002 is Researcher. Earlier it was: graduating student and intern at the International Institute of Genetics and Biophysics of the CNR in Naples dealing with "Late Events of sporulation in Bacillus subtilis", with his thesis won the prize for the best thesis in Microbiology assigned the Italian Society of General Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnology; CNR scholarship for two years (1994-1995) at the International Institute of Genetics and Biophysics of the CNR in Naples dealing with the study of the expression of a sigma factor of Bacillus subtilis and the study of carbohydrate metabolism in Lactobacillus plantarum; Fellow European Union (1996-1998) under the Training and Mobility of Researchers program (TMR), at the Department of Genetics of the University of Groningen (NL) dealing with the "Biochemical characterization of the sec-independent transmission system bacteriocins of Lactococcus lactis and Pediococcus acidilactici ". 

He served on the faculty of the PhD in Analysis and modeling of biological systems. 
He has participated as a member of the local unit to PRIN 1999 programs: "Molecular mechanisms of adaptation to temperature changes blight" 2000: "Identification of regulatory elements involved in catabolite repression in Lactobacillus plantarum", 2002: "The role of the proteolytic system clp-dependent adaptation of Streptococcus thermophilus to "stress. It 'was responsible for the local unit within the PRIN 2005: "Stress response in Streptococcus thermophilus: genetic aspects." And the PRIN 2008. 
Since November 1, 2010 is an associate professor in the sector BIO / 19: General Microbiology.

Currently with the Department of Biology and he is a member of the Academic Senate.
