Abstract

The increasing number of Hepatitis C patient by reason of vast applies of medicines and alcohol has overlain the path for experimenter in a concern in Homeopathic medicine. The present study aims to provide information about hepatitis and present trends in research of Homeopathic endorsed with anti-hepatotoxic activity. Homeopathic management one-time uses to recover uncertainty allied to liver and further interior organs for various generations in the globally and have currently develop into a positive therapy worldwide for pathological liver circumstances. Between these, the present study confer an assemblage of Homeopathic medicines apply for liver resistance, a new method of applying Homeopathic treatment for hepatitis has been discovered and tested empirically with successful results in three cases. Three cases of Hepatitis C, who had failed conventional therapy, have been discussed in detail. This study estimate the importance of Homeopathic extort in the treatment of hepatitis C in three cases, who suffer from hepatitis with different age group, which give a specific perceptive of the trial of Homeopathic medicines. This may help to categorize and improve applicable combinations or Homeopathic products useful in the management of hepatitis.

Introduction

The Homoeopathy is a way of alternative treatment where the Homoeopathic Doctors (Homoeopaths) treat the patients according to the symptoms and the prescribed homoeopathic medicines, which can be different for every patient for the same problem/disease and it depends on the symptoms, clinical trial which have been previously done and preserve in the Meteria Medica (Book of Homoeopathic Medicines) [1]. The treatment primarily focused on the general symptoms and history of respective patient and is one of popular alternative way of treatment, besides allopathic. The Homeopathic treatment aimed to activate the healing mechanism of organs by providing diluted medicines with particular medicines [1,2]. In this way the patient regain health completely after eradication of symptoms and signs from which the patient is suffering. The Homeopathic treatment system besides treating disease also addresses the causes of disease and respective patient’s susceptibility. As far as therapeutic medication is concerned, several well-proved medicines are available for Hepatitis C treatment that can be selected on the basis of the symptoms of patients and the same is customized for each patient.

There are numerous cases of Hepatitis C in Pakistan and the ratio is increasing day by day due to various factors. Although, the Government has taken various steps to curb the same but due to limited resources, the virus is spreading very quickly [3-6]. The present study aims to provide information about hepatitis, how it can occurs, what are the drugs causing hepatotoxicity and present trends in research of Homeopathic endorsed with anti-hepatotoxic activity [7]. This may help to categorize and improve applicable combinations or Homeopathic products useful in the management of hepatitis.

In this research case report, the authors have developed a novel homoeopathic treatment method to cure hepatitis C. The authors have described three cases of hepatitis C that responded to the treatment discovered by authors and were cured successfully.

Brief History Of Cases

Case-1

A 44-yr-old man was found to have high level of SGPT. Subsequently Hepatitis C antibody testing revealed chronic Hepatitis C. He enrolled in a Government Hospital and started conventional therapy of pegylated interferon (PEG-INF). His HCV RNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results indicated a provisional retort. But the patient was suffering from various increasing complication such as loss of appetite, fatigue and nausea. After few months he discontinued the therapy as no effect was observed to the interferon.

Case-2

A 49-yr-old man, belonging to a very poor family, was diagnosed as a case of hepatitis C. The patient started a clinical trial of pegylated interferon (PEG-INF) from a Government Hospital. His complications were increasing including loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea and weakness. Thereafter, patient discontinued the treatment.

Case-3

A 15-yr-old girl, having history of jaundice, ascites and fever, was diagnosed as a case of hepatitis C. The patient started a clinical trial of pegylated interferon (PEG-INF) from a Government Hospital, but no improvement was observed.

The brief demographic and pathological investigation detail of cases is given in Table 1.

Age (at the time of treatment) Sex Pathological diagnosis
Qualitative HCV PCR SGPT Serum albumin
Case-1 44 Yrs Male Detected 86 U/L 3.9 g/dl
Case-2 49 Yrs Male Detected 72 U/L 4.4 g/dl
Case-3 15 Yrs Female Detected 804 U/L --

Table 1: Brief detail of Cases.

Method Of Treatment

The blood samples of infected patients were collected and centrifuged; the serum of the individual patient was potentized by 6c, and then taken orally through chewable tablets (Diskettes) with the following Homeopathic medicines according to the symptoms:

1. Chelidonium 30 thrice a day

2. Cardius marinus Q thrice a day

3. Natrium sulpha 3X thrice a day

The 6c potency is the 6th decimal potency which is obtained by serial dilution and agitation of the alcoholic extract or mother tincture. Chelidonium majus 30 is the 30th decimal potency of Chelidonium Majus (Mother Tincture), Cardius marinus Q (mother tincture). The Natrium sulpha 3X is trituration to 3rd decimal potency of the substances. Chelidonium 30 and Cardius marinus Q are our standard homoeopathic treatment protocol for curing chronic Hepatitis C patients. Various research articles have supported usage of Chelidonium for liver disease [8] and Cardius marinus is effective for treatment of viral infections.

Results

The patients adhered to this treatment protocol for two years, during this period patients didn’t used other treatments. By the course of time, the patients regained normal body weight and were no longer experiencing nausea and weakness. Their pathological diagnosis of Qualitative HCV PCR results are now “Not Detected/Non-Reactive”.

The rising utilization of Homeopathic medicines reproduces their superficial efficacy in the management and preclusion of ailment and the certainty that this management be protected as they are essential. This study estimate the importance of Homeopathic extort in the treatment of hepatitis in three patients which suffer from hepatitis with different age group which give a specific perceptive of the trial of Homeopathic medicines. Based on the extensive experience, the above treatment protocols were developed and applied to the patients according to the known actions of medicines.

Discussion And Conclusion

Various papers published in medical journals claim that Homeopathic medicine doesn’t have further research into their therapeutic effects [9]. However, this brief case report provides enough evidence and suggest for further exploration of this area. The treatment of patients with potentized medicine can eliminate the adverse effects. Therefore, there is a need to further explore this area. Hopefully, the present three case reports, will inspire other researchers to explore this controversial area of therapeutics.
