Australia, officially known as the Commonwealth of Australia is a country and continent comprising of the mainland of the Australian content. Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide are the main cities and Canberra is called “Bush capital”.
Geography of the country:
Australia is surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans and is the world's sixth largest country by total area. The neighbouring countries are Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and East Timor to the north, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to the north-east, and New Zealand to the south-east.
Status of Economy, Research and Development:
Australia is a developed country and the world’s 12th largest economy. It has the fifth highest per capita income as of 2014 and also second highest human development index in the world. They are 13th in the world in therms of military expenditure. Australia is ranked highly in terms of quality of life, health, education, economic freedom, and the protection of civil liberties and political rights. Australia is a member of the United Nations, G20, Commonwealth of Nations, ANZUS, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), World Trade Organization, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and the Pacific Islands Forum.

Australia has the proper infrastructure for civil liberties and political rights. Few Universities also provide one of the best study courses on political Science such as The University of Queensland, Australian National University, The University of Western Australia etc. All these universities also show up in the top 50 Universities in the world. These schools are governed by Australian Political Studies Association. The Australian Journal of Political Science, which is on its 51st volume is also one of the best journals on Social Science and Political Science all over the globe and is the official journal of the Australian Political Studies Association.
