The University of North Carolina is first Open University in the United States. It is also one of the oldest university with multi-campus education system. This University wsa established in 1789 and is the only one university which had graduate students in 18 th century. The University originally started with a single campus in Chapel Hill, now it’s with 16 NCs people’s universities along with North Carolina school of science and Mathematics. The mission of the University is to discover, create, transmit and apply knowledge to address the needs of individuals and society. This is the first University providing residential school to the talented students. Currently the University has more than 220,000 students and all its 16 campuses. Inside its 17 campuses this university has two medical schools and teaching hospital, ten nursing projects, two dentistry schools, and a school of drug store, and additionally a veterinary school, two graduate schools, 15 schools of instruction, three schools of building, and a school for performing craftsmen.
