Biography

Completed my medical degree and training in University of Calcutta, India with National Merit scholarship from government of India. Completed fellowship in cardiology in University of Calcutta, India and came to United States with an invited special fellowship in 1989 in the division of cardiology in University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama. Completed residency and cardiology fellowship training in USA and joined as fulltime faculty in in cardiology in Beth Israel Medical center in Manhattan, New York from 1998 to 2001 and as voluntary staff cardiologist in Montefiore medical Center from 2001 and voluntary faculty in cardiology since 2001 in Phelps Memorial Hospital, Sleepy Hollow, New York, where became Chief of cardiology, in the department of Medicine, since 2002 to present. Phelps memorial hospital is a teaching hospital with residency Training in family Medicine. From 2014, working as full time staff cardiologist in Phelps Memorial Hospital. Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and Registered physician and certified in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) from ARDMS in USA. During noninvasive fellowship in University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama from 1989 to 1993 did pioneering work in cardiac ultrasound, especially in Biplane and multiplane transesophageal echocardiography for identification of anatomical planes and cardiac structures in normal and diseased conditions. Much of these works have been endorsed as standard for present day examination of multiplane transesophageal echocardiogram by American Society of Echocardiography along with works of the other contemporary researchers. Published many original peer review journals in USA and also in India and co-authored chapters in the text books. Presented many times my work in national and international conferences in USA and outside United States and chaired scientific sessions. Nominated as one of the international editor of the Indian heart journal in 2011. Reviewer of official journal of internal society of cardiac ultrasound since 1998. Selected and served as an invited member of the First Cardio survey Committee of the American College of Cardiology from 2009 to 2011.Only 200 cardiologists from United States were invited to participate in the inaugural committee. Worked as President of the American Association of Cardiologists of Indian origin AACIO) from 2006 to 2008 and since 2008 to present as Board member. AACIO has more than 3000 members of cardiologists beside residents and fellows in cardiology in United States and involved in academic activities such as abstract presentations and competition and also scientific meetings in cardiology twice in a year.

Research Interest

Cardiac ultrasounds, Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, atherosclerotic vascular disease, metabolic heart disease, Ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease and systolic and diastolic heart failure.
