The French aquaculture industry is an old and established sector, one of the first to develop among the EU countries. The institution responsible for the management of the aquaculture sector in France is the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Resources, Directorate of Departement des Peches Maritimes et de l'Aquaculture (DPMA).
