Biography

Pedro Guillermo Méndez-Carvajal obtained his BS in Animal Biology at the University of Panama, and a Master of Science in Primate Conservation at Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom. He has been studying the behavior, ecology and population dynamics of Panamanian primates and other local mammals, with implications for conservation, since 1998. He is the principal founder of the For-Conservation Foundation of the Panamanian Primates (FCPP), which was created to generate scientific information that will assist in the conservation of poorly known primate species within Panama. His primary interests lie with endemic and Critically Endangered primates, specifically those living in fragmented and highly deforested landscapes. Mr. Méndez-Carvajal is also associated researcher of the Florida Museum of Natural History, at the University of Florida.
