Rosana graduated in 1993 with her veterinary degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil. Between 1995 and 1996 she worked as lecturer in the Small Animal Clinic Department at the same university. During this period she also completed her Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Medicine. In 1997, she held an Assistant Professor position at the Small Animal Clinic Department. In 2001, she started her PhD at the University of Illinois in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine and graduated in December 2005. Immediately after obtaining her PhD, she joined the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) as a Research Associate in the Clinical Laboratory Science Department, College of Health Sciences. At Texas A & M University, she initially joined the Biomedical Engineering Department as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Since 2011 she works as a Research Associate Scientist in the Gastrointestinal Laboratory, Small Animal Clinical Sciences Department at Texas A & M University. Rosana works with characterization of small molecules, such as amino acids, and validation of assays in dogs and cats with gastrointestinal diseases using gas-chromatography/mass spectrometry.
