Stephen J Barton
Biography
Stephen Barton is Principal Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Analysis at Kingston University and Manager of Kingston Analytical Services. He is Course Director for MSc in Analytical Chemistry and MSc Pharmaceutical Analysis and Postgraduate Coordinator for all taught Masters Courses within the School of Pharmacy and Chemistry at the University. Stephen is a Chartered Chemist and Chartered Scientist and was Chairman of the Royal Society of Chemistry, South East Region Analytical Division from 2009 to 2012.
Research Interest
Stephens areas of interest include thermal analysis and materials analysis. He has supervised PhD students in areas such as:
a.) Novel Conducting polymer alloys,
b.) Assessing and Improving the stability of anticancer drugs,
c.) Analysis of glycosides from Caralluma tuberculata and the induction of caspase-dependent apoptosis in cancer cells,
and
d.) Method development for identification of tachykinins and their post-translational modifications and discovery with in silico analysis of bio-informatic databases
