Canada is situated in the northern part of North America. The name Canada comes from St. Lawrence Iroquoian word, Kanata meaning “village” or “settlement”. It has 10 provinces and 3 territories extending from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It covers a total of 9.98 million square kilometers (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area.

Canada occupies plenty of the continents of North the United States, sharing land borders with the contiguous USA to the south, and the USA country of Alaska to the northwest through overall region (together with its waters), Canada is the second one-largest usa within the global.  Canada has claimed the part of the Arctic among 60° and 141°W longitude, latitude 82.5°N – which lies 817 kilometres (508 mi) from the North Pole.
