Biography

I graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Division of Agricultural Sciences (2001) and continued my studies in AUTH, received MSc (2003) and PhD (2007) diploma with grants of distinction in the field of plant physiology and biochemistry. My previous working experience was as Assistant Professor under contract and contract researcher at AUTH, Technological institutes and Research institutes. During my thesis I visited CNRS-Bayer CropScience Joint Laboratory (Lyon, France) working on plant proteomics. Currently I am working as project Principal Investigator (PI) at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. At the same time I am majorly involved in establishing an independent high potential research group in Agriculture Faculty of AUTH, which is presently staffed by a Postdoctoral researcher, 2 PhD students, 3 MSc students and 2 undergraduate research students. The group carries out multidisciplinary research in the field of applied proteomics in fruit science.

Research Interest

My research interests combine physiological, molecular and proteomic approaches to investigate plant stress physiology and fruit biology. I am expertise in the application of a) plant proteomic analysis, b) molecular biological techniques, c) biochemical and analytical tools like enzymatic tests and GC and HPLC with various detection systems, d) histochemical techniques like, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and e) physiological methods to characterize plant response to abiotic stress and fruit quality traits.
