Biography

Dr Melinda Phang is a Research Fellow at the Boden Institute, University of Sydney. She was awarded her PhD from The University of Newcastle in 2013. Her research on omega-3 fatty acids and platelet activity was the first to demonstrate the existence of sex-specific effects of omega-3 fatty acids in platelets which was recognised by 3 early career researcher awards by the Nestle Nutrition Institute, Nutrition Society of Australia and the Hunter Medical Research Institute, University of Newcastle. Her research focuses on cardiovascular disease prevention through dietary intervention on vascular parameters, more specifically improving biochemical indices of cardiovascular health through diet and nutrition tailored for specific subgroups. This has included a range of projects from maternal health in pregnancy and fetal development to adult at-risk populations.
