Biography

Dr. B. Suresh Kumar Shetty is Professor and Head in the Department of Forensic Medicine[ ‘Vidhi Vijnana’ in Kannada] at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He received his Masters degree at KMC, Manipal, and joined as faculty at KMC, Mangalore, where he is teaching since 2005. Presently appointed as Honorary State Medico-Legal Consultant for three districts [Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Coorg], Government of Karnataka. Has done a certificate in “Analytical Toxicology & Forensic DNA Typing” awarded by Dept. of Analytical Toxicology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin in November 2006, PG certificate in Torture Medicine [IMA AKN Sinha Institute, Patna] in 2011. Completed his MBA [Hospital Administration] from Sikkim Manipal University in the year 2016. Perusing FAIMER fellowship from Manipal University. He has co-authored chapters in 3 books and peer-reviewed in 15 reputed national and international journals, contributed articles in local and national newspapers, guided postgraduates in Forensic Medicine and undergraduates in ICMR student projects,. He has published more than 70 papers, national and international research papers in scientific journals. He has organized number of continued medical education [CME] programmes police training programmes, seminars and conferences as a capacity of organizing secretary in 2009-2015 and hosted the IAFM National conference in the year 2013. He has delivered lectures on ‘Crime Scene Investigations’ to police officials of Western Range from year 2014 till date. He has attended scientific sessions in India as well as Abroad like Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, United States of America, Hong Kong, Australia, China, Russia so on. He has been an author of “Atlas book on Forensic pathology ‘published by Jayeepe Publishers. He has edited ‘Forensic Analysis-Death to justice’ published by Intech Publishers. He is Nominated by the International Bibliographical Centre, Cambridge, England, Selection Committee and earned a position of TOP 100 Health Professionals in the year 2009, who have made a significant contribution in their field to engender influence on a local, national and international issue and Individual Member of Sydney Forensic Medicine & Science Network, Australia and Asia Pacific Association of Medical Toxicology. He is an active member and Chairman of a registered [REG.No.MGC-4-00071-2008-09] Non- Governmental Organization “BELAKU” with a desire and wish to spread light among the youths to change the society in right direction.
