South Korea is an Asian Country which is located on the on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, which is officially called the Republic of Korea.
Geographically, South Korea is located on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula with a coastal line along the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. This country has two volcanic islands Cheju (Jeju), off the peninsula’s southern tip, and Ullung, and a small-scale lava plateau in Kangwon province.
Currently South Korea is considered as a high-tech industrialized economy due to its huge manufacturing and exports of electronic gadgets by many multinational conglomerate companies. Technological advances enabled Japan to lead the world. The country is pioneer in advanced research in telecommunications, electronics, chemicals, shipbuilding, automobile production and steel production.
So far only one person (8th President of South Korea) has been awarded as Nobel laureates in South Korea. Currently most of the research is going on Engineering Research, Computer Technology and many more. Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and KICTEP (Korea Institute of Construction and Transportation Technology Evaluation and Planning) of South Korea monitors the funding and for the R & D related to Engineering in the country. Seoul National University is the leading Institution in Engineering research in South Korea. Numerous Engineering journals were serving to develop the scientific community from South Korea with good reputation. Several leading Journals in the country like International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing, International Journal of Automotive Technology, Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology and International Journal of Control, Automation and Systems provides knowledge base over the current researches in Engineering.
