South Africa is the southernmost sovereign state in Africa. Officially Known as Republic of South Africa. It is bounded on the south coastline of Southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, on the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and on the east by Mozambique and Swaziland, and surrounding the kingdom of Lesotho.
South Africa occupies the southern tip of Africa, its coastline stretching from the desert border with Namibia on the Atlantic coast southwards around the tip of Africa and then north to the border with Mozambique on the Indian Ocean. Most of the country is classified as semi-arid, it has considerable variation in climate as well as topography. South African contains two major rivers the Limpopo and the Orange .The eastern and southern coastal regions are drained by numerous shorter rivers. In South Africa largest dam is the Gariep on the Orange River.
The economy of South Africa is the second-largest in Africa. South Africa accounts for 24 percent of Africa's gross domestic product and it is ranked as an upper-middle-income economy by the World Bank one of only four such countries in Africa alongside Botswana, Gabon and Mauritius.
