László Vécsei graduated with an M.D. from Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical University (currently University of Szeged) and was then awarded his C.Sc. in the behavioural effects of neuropeptides and D.Sc. in the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Lund, Sweden and received a fellowship at the Department of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He is Professor and Director of Department of Neurology, University of Szeged, Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, President of the Medical Class of the Academy, Past-President of the Society of Hungarian Neurologists and Psychiatrists, General Secretary of the Danube Symposium for Neurological Sciences, Past-Secretary of the European Society for Clinical Neuropharmacology (ESCNP), Regional Vice-President of European Federation of Neurological Scoieties (EFNS) and Dean of the Medical Faculty, University of Szeged. He is interested in the pathomechanism of neurodegenerative disorders, headache, multiple sclerosis and novel therapeutic strategies of these diseases. He published more than 350 PUBMED articles, 13 books and monographs.

I published my first paper (together with my colleagues) in 1977

Neurodegeneration and neuroprotection in MS and PD

Original ideas, correct methods, perfect statistics, logical discussion

Yes, EU and national funding

6. When did you become an editor of OMICS Journal?

7. What is your greatest career accomplishment?
As a position: regional vice-president of EFNS As a scientist (and clinician): kynurenines in neurological disorders (publication in Nature Rev. Drug. Disc.).

8. How does the research published percolate through to practitioners?
Internet (PUBMED), scientific meetings, symposia, clinical discussions etc.

9. What is the purpose of serving as an editor?
To help the journal quality

Three patents

I have 358 publications in PUBMED, several of them related to MS.
