Russia also officially known as the Russian Federation is a sovereign state in northern Eurasia. Russia, the world’s largest nation, borders European and Asian countries as well as the Pacific and Arctic oceans. Its landscape ranges from tundra and forests to subtropical beaches. It is a federal semi-presidential republic. Russia is the largest country in the world, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area.Russia is the world's ninth most populous country.

Russia, land area is 6,592,772 square miles (17,075,200 square kilometers)and population is 142,470,272 density per sq mi: 31, Capital Moscow, has coasts on three oceans (the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic). Russia is a federation of 86 republics, provinces, territories, and districts, all controlled by the government in Moscow.

Science and technology in Russia blossomed since the Age of Enlightenment, Russian Academy of Sciences, Saint Petersburg State University and Moscow State University are the famous universities in Russia which paving the way for a strong native tradition in learning and innovation.

Russia received a total 27 noble awards in respective fields; Andre Konstantin Geim (1958) won noble prizes in the Physics,Material sciences  from university of Manchester Centre for Mesoscience and Nanotechnology. Russian inventions include arc welding, knapsack parachute, pressure suit, electric lighting, three-phase electric power, synthetic rubber,material sciences  and many more.
