Introduction

Hematoma is a condition that blood is constricted with in the organs or tissues. It is also called as blood blister. Usually this ear hematoma is effecting to ear pinna or ear flap and also termed as aural ear hematoma. This condition occurs when the blood vessels breaks and bleeds into the ear space in between the cartilage. Most commonly occurred with trauma like scratching, shaking the ears or biting the wounds. In this condition where the dog will shake their head violently and they may scratch their ears it may cause the aural hematoma

Sometimes it may be a foreign material or any piece of glass or dust particles that locked into the ear pinna in that cases this aural hematoma may occur. Long, floppy ears with dogs will have the more risk of developing this disease condition. Dogs with clotting or any bleeding diseases or disorders may also cause or develop the ear hematoma even in the history of with or without trauma.

Treatment

Immediate treatment should be required to the dog or it may leads to the damage of skin permanently. Usually the most common method and preferred method is surgery for hematoma. It varies different for the individual species. But some common basic steps are involved in this. Those are; firstly skin hematoma that is surgically cut the ear to drain out the blood and we should remove the clots in it. Secondly the empty space which is there should remove by placing the sutures through the ear. Which it will control the scare formation, by reattaching the cartilage into the skin, and to prevent the recurrence for skin?

For pinna it should give support to reduce the further damage and it will give healing to the skin. It may give support to skin by adding the bandage or any other material which is going to apply directly to the ear, or the other way is adding the bandage to ear through the head.

If any infections or any allergy is there we should treat it first and then treat the hematoma or else it may occur heavy damage or risk to the ear and as well as skin.

Causes and Medical Managements for Hematoma
