Abstract
Bioaugmentation, the introduction of specific microorganisms, is a powerful bioremediation tool for pollutant degradation. Re search demonstrates its efficacy in treating recalcitrant organic compounds in soils, removing heavy metals from wastewater, and re mediating oil-contaminated marine environments. Its application extends to pesticide-contaminated soils, landfill leachate treatment, and the removal of pharmaceuticals and microplastics from aquatic systems. Bioaugmentation also enhances plastic degradation and biogas production from organic waste. Successful implementation relies on microbial consortium selection, understanding microbial dynamics, and environmental factors.
