Abstract
Sustainable design in architecture engineering has become an essential practice to address pressing global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and urban expansion. It emphasizes the need for a holistic and environmentally conscious approach to designing and constructing buildings and infrastructure. This article explores the principles, strategies, technologies, and socio-economic benefits associated with sustainable architectural design. It also examines how interdisciplinary collaboration among architects, engineers, urban planners, and environmental scientists is reshaping modern construction practices to align with ecological stewardship and long-term human wellbeing. Furthermore, real-world case studies and global green certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM, and GRIHA are discussed to illustrate practical applications of sustainable strategies in architectural projects. Sustainable design in architecture engineering has emerged as a vital response to the growing global concern over climate change, resource depletion, urbanization, and ecological degradation. The principles of sustainable architecture aim to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings while enhancing the health and comfort of occupants. This abstract explores the interdisciplinary nature of sustainable design, integrating environmental science, engineering principles, urban planning, and renewable technologies to create energy-efficient and ecologically sensitive built environments. Sustainable architecture addresses issues like energy conservation, water management, waste reduction, indoor air quality, and the use of sustainable materials. It supports lowimpact development, enhances biodiversity, and promotes long-term cost savings through green construction practices. Key strategies include passive solar design, green roofing, net-zero energy buildings, and adaptive reuse of structures. The paper also analyzes the challenges architects and engineers face in implementing these strategies, such as budget constraints, lack of awareness, and resistance to change. By evaluating case studies and current innovations, the abstract concludes that sustainable design is not only feasible but essential in the modern architectural landscape, serving as a foundation for resilient, inclusive, and responsible urban growth.
