Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Rice University, USA

Biography

Dr. Peng He graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China with a Bachelor Degree in 2005, and then obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2011 under the supervision of Professor Zhengdong Cheng. For his PhD Thesis, he focused on the emulsification process in various microfluidic designs, to understand the dynamics of droplet formation using experimental and numerical tools, and applied this knowledge for the fabrication of disk-like anisotropic colloidal particles. After PhD graduation, he joined the Earth and Environmental Science Division in Los Alamos National Laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher for two years, where he dedicated to apply microfluidic techniques for energy studies such as the microalgae biofuel production and the multiphase flow in porous media. Currently Dr. He is conducting his postdoctoral research under Professor Biswal at Rice, focusing on the understanding and solution of asphaltene deposition problem in the oil and gas production, using a novel high-pressure microfluidic platform.
