Dr. Fengxiang X. Han has received his Ph.D. in Soil and Water Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel during the period of 1992-1997. Currently, he is working as Associate Research Professor in the Institute for Clean Energy Technology, Mississippi State University. He is serving as an editorial board member of several reputed journals such as Water Air and Soil Pollution and Soil and Sediment Contamination. Research Expertise:

At present working on “Development and functional estimation of new thiacalix[n]arenes based extractants for base-metals/rare-metals recovery from automotive catalyst residues”  

Developed novel synthetic routes for the synthesis of lower and upper rim substituted thiacalix[n]arenes via SNAr reactions/Mannich reaction and characterized them by the combined use of NMR and single crystal X-ray techniques.  

Developed novel silica/chitosan composite, alumina/chitosan composite, nano- hydroxyapatite/chitosan composite via sol-gel reactions and characterized them by the use of BET, TEM and X-ray techniques.  

In addition, prepared various modified multifunctional chitin/chitosan and synthetic polymeric resins for toxic ion removal.

Carried out various functional group inter conversions and prepared amino terminated hyper branched dendritic polyamidoamine chitosan beads (up to 3rd generation) were prepared by Michael addition of methyl acrylate to amino groups on the chitosan surface and amidation of terminal ester groups by ethylene diamine.

Experience in both column and batch adsorption studies, solving various sorption isotherms, thermodynamic parameters, sorption kinetics and arriving suitable mechanism.

Dr. Kirill Kostyanovsky earned his M.S. in Soil Science and Geography from Moscow State University in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Soil and Environmental Chemistry from Virginia Tech in 2009. Currently, he works as a Research Associate in Texas A&M System Research and Extension Center in Beaumont, TX. His research focus is on heavy metal chemistry and carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling in mined land reclamation sites. His research emphasizes nutrient and pollutant transport in groundwater, runoff, and greenhouse gas emissions at the sites amended with sewage sludge.

Vincenzo Naddeo, is assistant professor at Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Division (SEED) of the Department of Civil Engineering (DICIV) of Salerno University.?He was a visiting professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering & Science Program, University of Washington, WA USA, (2009). He has received a PhD in Civil Environmental Engineering from the Salerno University, SA Italy, (11/2002 - 04/2005). He has completed his M.Sc. in Civil Engineering - Hydraulic sector - at University of Salerno (09/1996 - 05/2002).?He is expert of the European Union from 2007 in the seventh Framework Programme for Research (FP7). Since 2006 he is the secretary of the Ph.D school in Civil Environmental Engineering at University of Salerno. He is the responsible of n. 5 Erasmus agreements and 4 research project. He was visiting scientist at different foreign research institution where he collaborated with high-ranking professor, the main institution are: (i) Indian Istitute of Technology (IIT) of Dheli (India); (ii) University of Mumbai (India); (iii) University of Cairo (Egypt); (iv) National Research Center (Egypt); (v) Engineering Faculty at CUJAE (Cuba).?He is author of over 50 papers in international journals, congress proceedings and books; he have 3 patents on water and wastewater treatments by sonolisys. Dr Aziz is a Professor in environmental engineering at the School of Civil Engineering, University of Science Malaysia since 2000. Dr. Aziz received his Ph.D in civil engineering (environmental engineering) from University of Strathclyde, Scotland in 1992. He has published to date over 80 refereed articles in professional journals/proceedings, 5 chapters in refereed international level books and 3 chapters in refereed national level books. He has also published 3 national level books. Additionally, he has published 150 refereed abstracts/technical reports related to his discipline of interest. Dr Aziz continues to serve as peer reviewer for several international journals. He serves as an associate editor of the International Journal of Chemistry and Environment and is a Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Landfill Leachate Management and Control of the International Journal of Environment and Waste Management (IJEWM). He currently sits as the Editorial Board Member for 8 International journals. Dr. Aziz has become Visiting Research Fellow to Department of Environmental Engineering, Kyoto University, Japan, under Ministry of Education, Japanese Government in year 1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006. He has won various research awards related to waste management in various exhibitions. He is currently sitting as a technical committee member for national solid waste management in Malaysia since April 2006. He has conducted over 30 funded research projects from 1992 to date with total cost over RM2 million.

Dr Aziz´s research has focused on alleviating the problems associated with industrial wastewater discharge and solid waste management via landfilling, especially on leachate pollution. He also interests in biodegradation and bioremediation of oil spills. Development of a pilot plant for removing heavy metals (Hg, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni, Mn, Cd and Cr (III) from wastewater using low cost media; Alternative removal technique for nitrogen and phosphorus removal from domestic wastewater for algal bloom control in oxidation ponds and lakes; and composting of municipal solid waste. Recently, Prof. Hamidi has embarked on research related to bioremediation of crude oil in contaminated coastal sediments and bioremediation of crude oil in marine environment in Malaysia.

She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles. Seung Joo Lim, Ph.D., works as a senior researcher at Radiation Research Division for Industry and Environment in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. He received a Master’s in Environmental Engineering (Diploma, 1997) from the Konkuk University, Republic of Korea, a Master’s (2008) in Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering from Iowa State University, USA and Ph.D. (2011) in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering from Arizona State University, USA. I an graduated from University of Memohis (PH.D.) in USA. My major is focused on the biodegradation of environmental pollutants such as cyanide, petrolieum, and pesticide etc. Also, the genotoxicity and cytotoxicity of these pollutants in human cells is my another research field. Intergrated the genomic, proteomics and bioinformatics methods into the research of biodegradation is challengable and prevailing, which is included in my study. The mechanisms of biodegradaiton by potential bacteria are unraveled in my going research. The applicaion of some potential bacteria for biodegradation is currectly evaluated. The devise of bioreactor would help the biodegradation increased, and is important for our concern.

Dr Yen-Hui Lin has received his PhD   in University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee during the period of 1996–May, 1998.  Currently, he is working as Associate Professor in Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering, Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology. His primary study included the design and implementation of fixed-biofilm process for simultaneous removal of multiple contaminants in industrial wastewater, and develop thekinetic model to simulate the performance of biofilm process. Recent research has emphasized on azo-dye decolorization in a biological activated carbon process and chromium(VI) bioreduction by E. coli 33456 on chitosan beads. Simultaneous removal of phenol and chromium(VI) in an anaerobic fixed-biofilm process was also investigated. A novel moving-fixed bed biofilm reactor was developed to remove organic carbon and ammonium-nitrogen simultaneously. The valuable biohydrogen production from food processing wastewater using newly developed high-rate anaerobic wastewater treatment technologies was conducted. Moreover, Conversion of CO2 into CH4 by methane-producing bacterium under a pressurized condition was evaluated in the batch tests. Bioleaching technologies have also applied to recover the heavy metals from industrial waste sludge by indigenous Acidithiobacilli.

Dr. Mohamed is an Associate Professor of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). He received his B.Sc and M.Sc. degrees from Cairo University, Egypt. Dr. Mohamed obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Florida, USA, where his research focused on modeling contaminants transport and biotransformation in the subsurface. After serving for a year as a postdoctoral research associate at the university of Florida, and prior to his affiliation with the UAEU, he joined the GPRG (groundwater protection and restoration group) at Sheffield University, UK as a research scientist. Dr. Mohamed is a member of several international professional associations. He teaches several courses in the fields of water resources and environmental engineering. His research activities are focused on contaminants fate and transport in the subsurface, groundwater bioremediation, stochastic subsurface hydrology, and in-situ characterization of contaminated groundwater sites.

Abbas Amini

Dr Abbas Amini is an associate lecturer, a registered member of Western Sydney University graduate supervisory board at the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics since January 2014, and the member of Work Health and Safety Committee of the same university. Before joining the Western Sydney University, he had conducted research with other Australian universities and CSIRO for five years, as a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash University and Deakin University, and as a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne. His fine outcomes have been presented in high impact factor journals, e.g., Nature publication group. Abbas started his teaching, industrial and scientific journey from obtaining an associate’s degree in mathematics from Dastgheib Teacher College, MSc and BSc in mechanical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and PhD in both nanotechnology and mechanical engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has also updated himself by several Australian and Canadian nationally recognized professional certificates and diplomas, e.g., FULT (Foundations of University Learning and Teaching form Western Sydney University), TAE, WHS, CNC etc, since then. With his intense schedule, he has been extensively involved in teaching for many years, and worked in industry, e.g., Magna Powertrain, Toronto, Canada, as a professional engineer and industrial designer for a period of six years. I am chemist with specialization in Environmental chemistry. I did Ph.D. on “Microbial decolorisation and structure correlation of hydrophobic textile dyes” from Guru Nanak Dev University (G.N.D.U), Amritsar, India in May 2009. Currently, I am working with the Department of Applied Chemical Sciences and Technology, G.N.D.U. as Incharge of Textile Industrial Service Centre. My major thrust area of research is bioremediation of textile dyes, isolation and identification of by-products. I had great experience of working in National Environmental Engineering and Research Institute (NEERI), India from 1990-1992 on project “Microbial desulfurization of fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas)” where successfully carried out chemo biochemical desulfurization of sour gas using lab scale rotating biological rope contactor bioreactor. I joined World Wide Fund-India as project officer in 1992 where I had successfully researched and developed low cost water pollution monitoring kits. I have 14 years of teaching (Waste management in textile industry) and 10 years of research experience.

I, Dr. Shweta Kulshreshtha, am lecturer in Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. I born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh (India) and complete my study there. After marriage, I moved to Jaipur and complete PhD from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. I have qualified UGC-CSIR NET- 2004, GATE-2002 and TIFR examinations. I have approximately 6 years of teaching experience. I worked as Microbiologist with Medispan limited (A unit of Shriram Group, Chennai). My general research subjects include bioremediation of paper and pulp industrial waste, mushroom cultivation, genotoxicity assays, Ames test and Immunological techniques. I also diagnosed Tuberculosis using FAST plaque TB test. She attended 16 National or International Conferences and presented her work in oral and poster presentation.  I won four awards or prizes in various National and International Conferences during research. I have published 6 research papers in National and International Journal. Chapter on bioremediation of pulp and paper industrial waste has been submitted for publication in the Springer’s book. At present, I am publishing papers and books in the field of Biotechnology, Microbiology and Immunology.

Maulin P.
