Biography

Dr. Kirill Kostyanovsky earned his M.S. in Soil Science and Geography from Moscow State University in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Soil and Environmental Chemistry from Virginia Tech in 2009. Currently, he works as a Research Associate in Texas A&M System Research and Extension Center in Beaumont, TX. His research focus is on heavy metal chemistry and carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling in mined land reclamation sites. His research emphasizes nutrient and pollutant transport in groundwater, runoff, and greenhouse gas emissions at the sites amended with sewage sludge.

Research Interest

Availability, transport, and effects of nutrients, organic matter, heavy metals, and endocrine disruptors in municipal, industrial, and agricultural residuals on water quality, soil properties, and plant growth; greenhouse gas emissions and global climate change; waste recycling and utilization for bioenergy and production of biofuels; restoration of lands disturbed by mining, road building, waste disposal, and erosion.
