Dr. Morris received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from William Jewell College in 2006. She went on to study Molecular and Integrative Physiology at KU Medical Center, where she received an F31 fellowship for her pre-doctoral work examining the how metabolic dysfunction alters the neuronal function in the basal ganglia (the brain region affected in Parkinson's disease). Upon obtaining her PhD in 2011, she joined the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center in January 2012 and is currently working as a post-doctoral fellow under Jeffrey Burns, M.D.
She is interested in the relationship between metabolic measures, such as insulin resistance, and memory in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease. Dr. Morris' memberships include the Society for Neuroscience, KUMC Women in Medicine and Science, and the American Physiological Society. She enjoys spending her spare time with her family, including her daughter, Ella, and husband, Corey.
