Kathryn Gaines earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. For five years, she served in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. Her adult neurology residency and fellowship in movement disorders was completed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has special training and provides botulinum toxin injections for spasticity, dystonia and migraines. In addition, she had expertise in deep-brain stimulation to help patients with movement disorders. Her special interests include Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes, Huntington’s disease, dystonia, ataxia, chorea, tardive syndromes, psychogenic movement disorders and tics.
