Dr. Laura A. Payne received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Boston University in 2007. She is currently an Instructor at the Pediatric Pain Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine. Her research focuses on psychological and biological factors contributing to pain in adolescents, and more recently, central pain processes in adolescent girls and young adult women with dysmenorrhea. She is currently funded by a grant from the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Based on her work, Dr. Payne has received numerous awards and honors, including the UCLA Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research in 2010. She also serves on the editorial board for the journal Cognitive and Behavioral Practice and has reviewed for journal such as Health Psychology, Pain, and Journal of Pediatric Psychology. She has co-authored 18 peer-reviewed articles, 8 book chapters, and a treatment manual. Dr. Payne is a member of American Pain Society, American Psychological Association, and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
