Biography

Marc Tennent: working: Winthrop Professor Marc Tennant BDSc MSc(prelim) PhD AFCHSE FICD Adjunct Professor, James Cook University - Dentistry Adjunct Professor, Griffith University - Dentistry and Oral Health Adjunct Professor, La Trobe University - Dentistry and Oral Health Marc is the Director (and founder) of the Centre for Rural and Remote Oral Health at The University of Western Australia, a unique centre which has given Western Australia leadership in understanding the issues associated with rural, remote and Indigenous oral health. The Centre is now recognised as a leading oral health research group in Western Australia. Operating under an integrated Service, Education and Research model, the Centre provides dental care to disadvantaged rural and remote dwelling Western Australians and is also a national leader in dental student placement models. Following his Doctorate work in vascular biology, Marc returned to the oral health arena where he has served in many senior roles in Dental Schools both locally and inter-state. Intertwining a love of computing with an innovative streak Marc has undertaken lead roles in the start up of Australia's newest Dental Schools, all of which are regionally-based (Gold Coast, Bendigo and Cairns) and continues his lifelong efforts towards reducing social disadvantage.
