Professor Andreas Oechsner are instrumental in the incorporation of sustainable themed curriculum in the Mechanical Engineering Programmer. The programmer aims to dispel the mechanical stereotype of a “testosterone-rich” environment linked to fast cars and petrol engines. The sustainability theme is developing around the novel “Bike project” that addresses biocomposite materials and sustainable manufacturing processes. The inclusion of sustainability in the mechanical engineering programmer has specific internal and external impact on at least four key areas – Teaching and Learning, Research/ Research Training, Community responsibilities and Communication/ Marketing.
