Lindsey completed her BSc (Hons) Exercise Science achieving first class honours from Sheffield Hallam University in 2007; which led her to pursue further study, achieving MSc Sport and Exercise Science (Interdisciplinary) in 2009. At this time Lindsey worked within workplace health and as part of her MSc dissertation, developed the smoking cessation component of the Sheffield Hallam University staff Wellness service. Lindsey developed her professional skills through working as the physical activity manager, for an NHS Community Weight Management Service. This involved developing and coordinating the physical activity and lifestyle delivery of the service, building strategic partnerships with external organisation's and specialising in weight management interventions for obese patient's eligible for obesity surgery. Lindsey also qualified as an exercise referral consultant and an obesity and diabetes exercise specialist, achieving full accreditation as an advanced exercise professional with the Register for Exercise Professionals, REPS. Lindsey is also trained in Motivational Interviewing. Lindsey has over 8 years work experience within public health. Lindsey's specific area of expertise is the role of physical activity and lifestyle modification, on the prevention and treatment of obesity across the lifespan; with a particular focus on maternal and childhood obesity. Lindsey's latest work has also focused on the evaluation of public health programmes for increasing physical activity, reducing obesity and improving breastfeeding rates. Lindsey role as a Senior Exercise and Health Sciences Officer involves leading innovative public health research and consultancy; as well contributing to the Sport and Physical Activity teaching portfolio, supervising dissertation students and supporting Business Development/Knowledge Transfer activity across the research centre. Lindsey is also an associate of the Sheffield Hallam Public Health Hub.
